Make it meaningful

You don’t need a logo, you need a story to tell.

Developing a good brand is hard. There is so much more to it than a spiffy logo, but we make those too. As brand designers since 2005, we’ve helped some amazing brands tell their stories.

Brand Development Components

Logo Design

Logo design is an important part of branding. Logos typically consist of typography, color theory, and graphic design to produce a brand trademark. Logos are the most used form of branding which is often why businesses put a lot of early emphasis on getting a logo designed when they start a new business.

Trade Dress

Trade dress is the overall look and feel that gives a brand its consistency. Color selection, typeface selection, and image usage can all be attributed to trade dress. Ferarri’s brand as an example has a specific red color that is associated with its stallion logo. If you were to see that stallion logo over a green background it would be confusing and inconsistent with the Ferrari brand guidelines.

Guidelines

For larger corporations, brand consistency is vital to differentiate from competitors. In larger businesses when multiple designers are involved in the marketing process, a brand guideline is distributed to the designers. The goal of the guide is to offer brand best practices to the designers so they know which colors, fonts, and images they can use when producing marketing materials. Everything from, logo variations for different color backgrounds, to which font to use for a headline of a poster layout will be explained in the brand guidelines.

Corporate ID

A Corporate ID is often confused with a stationery system like business card design, letterheads, and envelopes. While this is partially accurate, a corporate ID often includes other collateral as well.

Here are some other items that would be considered part of a corporate ID

  • Office Uniforms & Name Tags
  • Vehicle Wraps
  • Signs & Window Decals
  • Social Media Templates
  • Print Ad Templates
  • Brochures
  • Promotional Gifts
Culture

Culture is how brands command greater loyalty from customers and employees alike. No matter the size of your business, what you have to say matters more than ever.

By creating a culture that emphasizes why your brand exists movements can be led, and people can be inspired.

Branding 101

Branding is the process of creating a look, feel, and culture for a business.

If you haven’t had an opportunity to develop your brand fully, it is understandable. Most companies start by producing a primary DIY logo and assuming that they can add more assets to it as they need them.

While this system is convenient for the business owner, it ends up hindering your brand recognition and will gradually become more inconsistent over time.

Developing an all-encompassing and cohesive brand experience will set your brand up for consistent visibility and memorable engagement with your audience.
